New York City Trip June 2014

Here we go! Our crazy summer trip was: Up to NYC...2 nights...off to NH for a night...Mom and Grammy to ME for three nights, Dad and Chas stayed in NH...back to NH then off to Maryland for one night...then home...

We ate our way to the city...

Our hotel room had a view of the statue...
Waiting to get on the ferry...

We found our relatives names on Ellis Island...Charles Kofira....(My paternal grandpa I called Dido)
 Nick found Peter Ijskamp

Chas and Nick are so tiny and that wasn't even the top of the pedestal!

Fun Memory: We enter the statue and get to climb to the top of the pedestal.  So Nick and Chas take off on the stairs. We are told it is about a 5 minute climb. Well, two flights in my mom and I are winded. We decide that it is not worth it and we will wait for the elevator. So down we go. After standing in line for about 5 minutes (it was a 20 minute wait) another guide says it is a 3 minute climb. Ha! So back to the stairs we go.  After the second flight we realize there are signs with the number of stairs left which totally motivated us! And we made it! (In about 3 minutes!)

Chas has always loved the Statue of Liberty and it was truly a dream come true for him to see her!

 Street dancers...

 Riding the Subway...
First NYC pizza...decent but not the best...

Another fun memory...there are characters (see the mouses in the background?) are all in NYC. I had no interest in paying to take a picture with them because I am a cheapskate. WELL...Chas walks by minions and they wave him over. He goes and they hug and they all line up and say "Picture! Picture!" So I yell to Nick and get his phone. IMMEDIATELY after I snap it they rush forward to me saying "Tip! Tip!" (pronounced teeeep! teeeep!) I told them I have nothing! They start yelling at me, "You stupid lady! Why you take picture!" And of course my entire family LEAVES me to fend for myself as I walk away... so funny!
Hockey store...after the trip I asked Chas to tell me top three things he loved about the trip...
 BUBBLE HOCKEY was #2
Too long of a line to take a pic from the front so...

Best pizza we ate the whole time was from NJ...mac and cheese pizza!
You can see the Statue outside of the window!

 View from our hotel...

My child thinks he is tough.

Ha ha ha...I love this picture.

Finally made it to NH...my Mom got to shovel poop...

 Checkers with Bumpa
 Worn Out

Back home safely...and just in time for some ping pong!

 Grammy cooking and spoiling us!

Typical Summer Day...

For almost every day this summer Chas has been to hockey camp.  But when he DID stay home with Mom...
 A little army men action...
Making a dessert of blueberries, strawberries, and whipped cream with Chas' secret strawberry topping!
Showah Ninja!

Summer Fun

Working on some sauce...
Not sure if I already shared these....
Chas thought being able to actually poke the fire was WAY exciting...
My son. Love him to bits!

First Day of First Grade

First day...Chas woke up and walked through his blue and white streamed door...
The puppy was holding a "First Graders Rock" pencil.  The lunch box was filled with candy and junk to leave in my class for after school.  The lunchbox was the one he picked out then we could not find (I admit it was my fault...I insisted we go to all different stores before we made our decision...I have to allow him to be decisive! He was, I was not! Luckily I ended up finding one!)
The picture is of him holding his First day of Kindergarten sign...
Yes, his hair is sticking up. Yes, he wanted it that way. He calls it his "puffle" from Club Penguin.
Yes, it bothers me! But I am letting him do his own thing!
